An Impromptu A/B Comparison …
I made an error with the Earth Hour post that went up on Experience Matters yesterday. Due to some poor communication on my part, an earlier version was posted rather than a version that I redrafted after some advice from our editorial board. But rather than pull down the article, we thought we might use this as an opportunity to give you a little behind the scenes look at EM and how it runs. I’m also curious to hear your opinions about the articles - which do you think is better?
One of the reasons we run EM is to explore different models for corporate blogging. It gives us a platform to experiment a number of things like work flow and editorial process. This experience later becomes knowledge that we can share with our clients. Currently, we use a critique model where contributors select their own post topic, but submit the draft posts to our editorial board for review before posting. Our editorial board is a loose net group of contributors and company leaders who help keep our articles topical, thoughtful and inspiring. When it gets a “thumbs up”, the article gets posted as soon as possible. This approach has worked well so far.
The Earth Hour post from yesterday was a draft that got some constructive criticism about tone and focus. The article I’ll post next is the improved version (or so I think). Which do you like better?
