Great suggestion. Bulking up on agency experience as a freelancer shows prospective employees that you know the ropes and to Gabby's point, can hit the ground running.

It also gives you an opportunity to see how various agencies work. It'll give you a feel for the kind of agency you'd like to work for. It will also expose you to a variety of methods and ways of thinking that you put into your toolkit.

Freelance, freelance, freelance. If you're just out of school or you're making the jump from the enterprise to the agency, get as much experience at various agencies (and their culture, processes and methods) as possible. Every agency name on your resume makes it more likely that an agency will interview you. Your skillset is, obviously, of primary importance but ideally, agencies want you to hit the ground running--and knowing how to work in an agency environment will make that easier.
