The Winners & Losers of Social Networking
In the game of social networking, there have been plenty of winners and losers. And while it might seem that Facebook is the ultimate winner, it depends on who you are talking to. For example, if you are over the age of 65, you probably would be more inclined to join Plaxo.com rather than Facebook. Social media agency, Ignite, has done a study about the demographics within social networks, to discover where most people are hanging out. Some of the findings might be surprising, like the fact that most kids under the age of 17 are not on Facebook, but rather Habbo.com. Check out this extremely informative infographic to find out more, and let us know if you find any of these findings and predictions especially surprising.

Location Discovery Service Scoville Lets You Find Hot New Local Spots
Location based services are all the rage right now, and Scoville is jumping on that bandwagon. Basing their business plan around the idea of a Scoville Scale (one that measures spiciness in food), Scoville aims at giving users the hottest destinations in their area.
With the use of a hashtag (#toptuesday) Scoville will feature some local hot spots. The platform launched in public beta this week (it has been in private beta for the past month) and users will have the opportunity to test out this new LBS. Have you heard any reviews of Scoville so far?
Measurement
Social media monitoring and metrics: The definitive introduction
The world of social media moves very fast. One day one thing is hot, and the next day it is not. So it’s difficult sometimes when we get caught up in the speed of it all, to remember the roots of all of it. This article does a fantastic job of breaking down social media measurement, starting from the beginning. No bells or whistles, but a focus on why we measure at all, and how to start. With the hustle and bustle of social media, it gets hard sometimes to focus on what we should be monitoring. It also gets easy to get caught up in all the challenges of measuring, and to stop focusing on how to fix these challenges. Take a look at this article to get back to the basics of social media measuring and metrics.

Judge kills zombie Winklevoss lawsuit against Facebook
An end has come to the seemingly never-ending story of the Winklevoss twins against Mark Zuckerberg. For those of you who did not see The Social Network, the Winklevoss twins are the boys who sued Zuckerberg with claims that Facebook was originally their idea. The twins and Zuckerberg settled in 2008, when the twins were given $65 million. But the twins did not think that this was an accurate valuation, and brought it back to court. Now, this past Monday, courts told the Winklevoss boys that they would have to (gasp) move on with their lives and live off of their $65 million. Since both the district court and appeals court are in agreement on this decision, this might be the end of seeing the Winklevoss twins in the news. So long, boys.
Partnerships
Facebook, Baidu in Chinese joint venture?
Rumors are flying about a potential partnership between Facebook and Baidu, the Chinese search giant. As of right now, Facebook is banned in China, along with other Web services. However, Facebook definitely has their eyes on the market in China, considering how sizeable it is. Facebook has been studying up on China and how they believe entering the market would be most appropriate, and this deal has the potential to lead to this happening. While some are still skeptical about Facebooks success in China, many believe that this partnership is just the thing needed for it to take off in this new market.
